Redmi K50i Review: Design

As far as the design is concerned, the identity of the Redmi K series has ended with the Redmi K50i. The K series had a different identity, but looking at the Redmi K50i, it would seem that it is a phone from Xiaomi's regular series. So to say, Redmi K50i is a slick phone but in reality it is not. Feels a bit thick when held in hand. The phone weighs 200 grams and is 8.87mm thick. The body is made of polycarbonate, so you are not going to get a premium feeling.

The back panel of the phone reflects on the light and the colors also change. There are many phones in this range that are slimmer than the Redmi K50i. The sides of the phone are flat but the edges of the display are curved. The power and volume buttons are on the right in the phone.

There is a fingerprint sensor in the power button itself. The phone has a headphone jack and IR blaster at the top. At the bottom, there is a SIM card slot along with dual speakers and a Type-C charging port. So overall the design of Redmi K50i will be said to be fine.

Redmi K50i Review: Display

Redmi K50i 5G flaunts a 6.6-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a 144Hz refresh rate and (1,080 x 2,460) pixel resolution. Now talking about the display of this new phone of Redmi, the company has used Field Fringe Switching (FFS) LCD panel in it. Many phones with AMOLED screens will be found in this range, although Redmi claims that the viewing angle of the FFS screen is better and also saves battery.

We did not feel any such difference during the review. The display can be used at 60Hz, 90Hz and 144Hz. There is Gorilla Glass 5 on the display. There is support for Dolby Vision with the display. The brightness of the display is 500 nits which would be said to be very low. HDR is not supported with the phone but you can watch HD videos. Picture quality and colors are good. The screen is fast and the touch is smooth.

Redmi K50i Review: Performance

Dolby Vision and MediaTek Dimensity 8100 processor is supported in Redmi K50i. The phone comes with Android 12 based MIUI 13 and gets an IP53 rating for water resistant. The Dimensity 8100 processor is available in Redmi K50i, whose performance is not in doubt. RAM type is also LPDDR5 and storage is also available with UFS 3.1. Redmi K50i can be called the fastest phone in this segment.

With this processor, Oppo has recently launched Reno 8 Pro, which is priced at Rs 45,999. In such a situation, Redmi K50i beats here. On this Redmi phone, you can play Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) with HDR graphics and ultra frame rate. The phone will not disappoint in terms of gaming. The sound of the speaker of Redmi K50i is punchy and loud. The headphone jack is with hi-res support. Fingerprint and face unlock pleased us. Bloatware is available in bulk in the phone.

Redmi K50i Review: Camera

Triple rear cameras have been given in Redmi K50i. Its primary lens is 64 megapixels, second camera is 8 megapixel ultra wide sensor and 2 megapixel macro lens is available. A 16-megapixel sensor has been given in the phone for selfie and video calls.

The primary camera in Redmi is a 64-megapixel Samsung GW1 sensor. Random click in room light and camera in default mode clicks pictures with burn effect. The quality of outdoor photos is good and the details are available in the pictures of the primary lens.

The camera seems to struggle in terms of colours. There is a lack of colors in the pictures, although the company can overcome it through OTA update. The lack of colors is also seen in the front camera. Camera speed is good.

The ultra wide lens manages colors and sharpness well. Talking about video recording, with this you can record 4K videos at 30fps. A steady mode is available for video recording but optical image stabilization is not available. Night mode is average.

Redmi K50i Review: Battery

This phone has a 5080mAh battery, which comes with 67W Turbo Charging support. For connectivity, this phone also gets 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.3, GPS / A-GPS USB Type-C and fingerprint sensor. The most important thing about the battery is that it does not drain fast and does not get hot in heavy use. In Mix use, you will get the backup of the day. There is no problem with charging. During the review, we were able to fully charge the phone in about 50 minutes.
So now overall, Redmi K50i leaves many phones behind in terms of performance. If you are a pro gamer then this phone is for you. In some cases, this phone has also disappointed such as the LCD panel is available instead of AMOLED. Apart from this, HDR 10 is also not available. The camera is not the best but it is good. Redmi K50i can be called the fastest phone in this segment in terms of performance.
